Last week, the Deakin NTEU branch was made aware of a further major workplace proposal, Impacting Business Intelligence and Insights.
According to the University:
- The likely impact of the proposed structure is that there are 1 matched positions, 30 translated positions, 26 positions impacted, 26 open selection, 6 expression of interest and 1 delayed recruitment, comprising existing, vacant and or new positions.
- Overall, this change proposal, if accepted, would result in a variance of 7positions from 57(56FTE) positions to 64(63FTE) positions, comprising ongoing, fixed term and delayed recruitment positions.
- The filling of positions in the new structure will be in accordance with Appendix C.
The secrecy of these proposed changes is worrying. As of 31.10.22, these MWC proposals have not yet to be circulated to all staff for review, despite the relatively brief consultation period (closing 9 November).
We invite all members to provide feedback as part of the consultation process, and to get in touch if you are impacted.

Also: a reminder for staff on the Burwood at Campus that we will be at Caffeine at 130pm tomorrow. We will be talking briefly about Enterprise Bargaining. This is a great opportunity to meet members of the branch committee and your fellow unionists at Burwood.
