On 8 November the NTEU met with Deakin management to continue our negotiation for a new enterprise agreement (EA).
We discussed our proposed changes to the Enterprise Agreement to improve the working conditions and rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers (read here).
Listen to Piper Rodd (branch president) and Joleen Ryan (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative) discuss the day’s events in the video above.
In broad strokes, we discussed:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment and Participation at Deakin University.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Network.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Committee.
- Cultural Leave.
- Cultural Responsiveness and Safety.
While our conversations were generally productive, many details are yet to be confirmed.
We will be holding meetings in the coming weeks to discuss the clause with both members and non-members.
